About this project.

An independent visual guide to data-centre water claims.

That's a lot of water makes published quantities easier to picture and check. We use original volume comparisons, visible assumptions and source-versioned receipts. We are not affiliated with the IEA or a data-centre operator.

This is not a live meter, a personal footprint estimate, a national harm score or a complete project register. The method explains the boundaries.

Privacy

The current release has no accounts, advertising, mailing list or visitor AI calls. The domain uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate page-view, referrer and performance measurements, with the existing setting that excludes visitors in the EU. It does not give us a deduplicated count of people or returning readers. Receipt calculations and image generation happen in your browser. Sharing or copying a receipt happens only when you choose it. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes technical requests needed to deliver it.

Cloudflare describes this service as cookie-free and privacy-first. Visitors outside the EU may have its analytics script delivered; blocking or failed delivery can leave gaps. We do not install a second analytics beacon or use a visitor identifier for our own analysis. Cloudflare explains its analytics service here. Advertising would require a further policy update before installation. No publisher/contact identity has been invented for an advertising application.
